About

The following is an excerpt from ‘Captivating’ by John and Stasi Eldredge. God has just created the world and all living things…

…Eve is the crescendo, the final, astonishing work of God. Woman. In one last flourish creation comes to a finish not with Adam, but with Eve. She is the Master’s finishing touch… Eve is – breathtaking. Given the way creation unfolds, how it builds to ever higher and higher works of art, can there be any doubt that Eve is the crown of creation? Not an afterthought. Not a nice addition like an ornament on a tree. She is God’s final touch, his piece de resistance. She fills a place in the world nothing and no one else can fill…

The story of Eve holds such rich treasures for us to discover. The essence and purpose of a woman is unveiled here in the story of her creation. These profound, eternal, mythic themes are written not just here in the coming of Eve, but in the soul of every woman after. Woman is the crown of creation – the most intricate, dazzling creature on earth. She has a crucial role to play, a destiny of her own. And she, too, bears the image of God, but in a way that only the feminine can speak. What can we learn from her? God wanted to reveal something abut himself, so he gave us Eve

I am a child of God, and I am a ‘daughter of Eve’. ‘God wanted to reveal something abut himself, so he gave us Eve’, he gave us woman! Every woman born after the creation of Eve, was created, chosen, just for this purpose, just for this time, to reveal to us, to the world, something about God. ‘The essence and purpose of a woman is unveiled here in the story of her creation. These profound, eternal, mythic themes are written not just here in the coming of Eve, but in the soul of every woman after‘. I am a woman, which makes me a ‘daughter of Eve’ and all the above, is meant for me and all the women I know, have yet to meet and will never know. On a personal note I am a child of God who also happens to be a mother of three young boys (6, 4 & 1½) and married to a wonderful man for 15+ years, who is also a chronic fatigue syndrome sufferer (he’s been ill for a while) and we are currently in the throes of rediscovering our hearts and all this means. We are beginning the exciting and scary journey of following our hearts.

Also, I love to write, hence this blog, finally; writing is what makes me come alive! I also love my family, God, chocolate, friends and really living life (and lots and lots of other stuff, but let’s not bore you with the details). This is my journey, speckled with my poems, short stories, maybe even novels, and it is my hope that my words will be inspiring, helpful, uplifting, funny, perhaps even profound, but mostly that my words (the gift from God that they are) will inspire others to also follow their hearts as they journey through life.

And in the words of Josh Young in his song ‘Blessing’ (from the CD ‘Closer’):

May you always find shelter
When the storms rage overhead
May you find healing in the laughter
Though sometimes tears fall instead.

And may the road rise to meet you
May love guide the way
And may the peace of the Father
In your heart always stay

May you dance into the waters
That once washed away youthful dreams
May the morning bring you justice
And dreams become reality

And may the road rise to meet you
May love guide the way
And may the peace of the Father
In your heart always stay
